IE 6 Shorcut error?

Clicking on any IE short cut icon on my desk top for IE get error mesg.
"There was a problem sending command to program" ?
Any advise on how to fix this?

Under Properties for your desktop IE shortcut, it should be listed as follows:
"C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE"
