ie 6 browser having trouble with pics?

I went to a couple of websites where either the blue bar at the bottom of
the screen kept moving real slow even though everything was downloaded from
the page. Also, on a few pages which I beleive are netscape java, x's come
up instead of the pic. It's happening at web pages that I could view before.
i noticed that some webpages that use Netscape make my pc freeze up. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have any ad blocking software installed? These typically block the
loading of images that have a url address that may contain a keyword such as
'banner' or 'ad'. Since this is only happening on some sites this would be a
probable cause.
You can improve IEs performance and downloading speed by ensuring that the
Temporary Internet Files folder is emptied when you close IE (Internet
Options, Advanced tab)

I have norton system works and norton firewall. Also, I have the windows xp
firewall on.

Hi,

Without an example of such a webpage, we can only guess. It might be a Java
problem - you might have to download the Java VM by Sun from
http://java.sun.com.
