IE 6.1 crashing

Running Win 98SE on PIII, Until about an hour ago, IE 6.1
ran fine on my computer. Then, when I was working in
native AOL, IE shut down. When I tried to re-open IE, I
got the following:

IEXPLORE caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 0167:bff87ede.

I reloaded IE both from within my harddrive and from the
internet, and I ran a repair for the program, all to no
avail. Does anybody have any suggestions?

You probably need new video drivers. Check the site for your video board
manufacturer. Meanwhile you can do the following:
1. Use the default mouse pointers.
2. Turn down your color depth. (Right click the desktop and choose
Properties | Appearance | Settings) Some people find that increasing color
depth helps.
3. Turn down your graphics hardware acceleration. (For Win 98, Start |
Settings | Control Panel | System | Performance | Graphics button) You will
see little, if any, performance degradation.
4. Turn off your desktop wallpaper.

If these make the problem go away you need new video drivers.

If you have an ATI video board, try adding these lines to System.ini

Just for the fun of it see if module mscigk.dll is on your
system.. rename it and see if your problem goes away

I tried the tests for video drivers, with no change in IE
shutting down, but thanks anyway.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks Frank, but I have loaded all the spyware and done
all the scans, but IE STILL crashes. Is there any way to
completely unload IExplorer and reload it from the net?

Thanks
