IE 6.0 Runtime error: abnormal program termination

David Low

I have suddenly found that my IE 6.0 SP1 is giving
regular errors where it terminates and displays a window
headed Microsoft C++ Runtime Library. The message
displayed is:

Runtime error c:\program files\Internet
Explorer\iexplorer.exe

abnormal program termination

Previously I had no problems with this program.

How do I overcome this problem? I have Grisofts AVG
installed and it is up-to-date and finds no viruses.

Do I uninstal IE6 and reinstall? Advice appreciated.

See:

Or this could be caused by another parasite. Try Ad-aware and/or Spybot.
See: Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:

Another possibility:
From Internet Options> Advanced, if you have Sun Java and microsoft VM
(virtual machine) uncheck Sun Java.

Hope this helps,
