Idiot Proof OR Proof of Idiocy?

First off, let me say that Defender seems to be working properly on my PC, as
far as I know. I do not want to uninstall it - yet - but if I ever do, I will
have to worry about what it might have changed on my PC that I won't be able
to undo without it. After reading all the problems being experienced by so
many, I am left with anxiety about how long it will take me to discover
something is terribly wrong here. I won't run down a laundry list of
problems. Any one with eyes can see for themselves. I have also detected a
hint from the insiders who post that Defender has been made idiot proof so
ordinary users can't screw it up. IMHO, this if proof of the idiocy of
Defender. Too much has been hidden from sight or taken away from what was
available in MSAS beta 1. MSAS worked. It is debatable where Defender works
or not. Furthermore, it seems to take control away from the PC user or at
least hides what it is doing. I don't think the ordinary user - idiot or not-
will appreciate all the workarounds required to make Defender behave. Yes -
behave - because it seems to out of control, at least in some instances. The
ordinary user certainly will not want to make manual registry changes because
of Defender. With all the possible installation problems, I would never
recommend that someone install Defender on an infected computer that is
already in crisis. I personally am hanging on, with the hope that a new build
will resolve some of these issues. But how long will that take? When I was
using MSAS, I never dreamed that beta 2 would be so much trouble. And please,
don't remind me that it IS still beta. It may be beta, but it is so
predominantly advertised on every Microsoft security at home document that
oridinary users will intall expecting it to work like GM. That's my opinon.
What's yours?

I tend to agree with you. It's running fine on my PC but I worry very much
about it for many of the reasons you mention. Also I worry about the hard
drive space it seems to be eating up on my PC with every definition update.
If your interested see my post in this section (General) titled "help its
filling up my hard drive"

What so many people just can't seem to get through their heads is this. It
is a BETA-BETA-BETA-BETA.

Of course it may screw up your system when removing it (I personally doubt
it). If you can't afford to completely redo an operating system from scratch
you have no reason to even use a BETA! I beta test for various companies. I
redo my operating system (from an image file) every two weeks or so. It is
to be expected with beta software.

YOU are a tester. What you find may not be to your liking. Redo your
system - if need be. It is one of the facts of beta testing!

I believe I addrressed that reality. The question remains, how many users
realize that fact?

Of course its beta and we would expect teething troubles, but remember also
this is supposed to be beta2 thus logically an improvement and advance on
beta1, yet here we have the reverse, a piece of software that functioned
rather efficiently, that has now been screwed up ! microsoft should be asking
themselfs whether they are paying the right people to work for them !

Idiot proof? Read through the boards. Most of the malware people are finding
difficult to remove also have P2P "free" software. Most every computer I've
had to clean for someone comes to me when it takes a half hour to boot or
will no longer connect to the internet. Almost every one has a file sharing
program, outdated anti virus and many have no firewall. Someone will save 99
cents downloading the latest hit by Emenem, but will eventually have to pay
someone like me $125 to fix their computer. Idiot proof? It can't be done.
