ICS with Windows 2K + XP and static IP addresses

I have a Win2K gateway (would-be) and two WinXP networked pc's'

There are other systems in the LAN, hence we are using static IP addresses
in the range 200.123.12.nnn.

What we can't get working is either NetBIOS access from the WinXP stations
to the Win2K station, or ICS. The Win2K system is the internet gateway.

Note - we CAN access the WinXP stations from the Win2K station, and the
WinXP stations can access each other.

Does anyone have the solution for this? (ie how to configure so that the
WinXP->Win2K networking and ICS will function?)

Mny thanks.

Fortunately, NetBIOS is not required for ICS. Just set up ICS as usual on
the W2K box (Windows will change it's IP address to 192.168.0.1), then
change it's IP address to whatever you want it to be. This REQUIRES 2 NICS
on the ICS server. One connected to the LAN and one connected to the
Internet (or a Dial-up adapter or internal DSL modem, etc). NO DEFAULT
GATEWAY on the LAN interface. After you have this configured, make sure that
1) the 2000 box can access the internet, and 2) the XP boxes can ping the
LAN IP address of the 2000 box. If you can do this, do an ipconfig /all on
the 2000 box and get the DNS settings. The go to an XP client, assign the
default gateway to be the 2000 Box's LAN IP address, and the DNS server to
whatever you got from the ipconfig /all. You should now be able to surf from
the client. Do the same on the other XP box, and you're done.
