ICS over wireless network

I guess your network would be like this:

1)a wireless router connected to cable or adsl modem

2)a desktop with wireless nic

3)a laptop with wireless nic

just set the nic of desktop back to "obtain IP
automatically"

make sure your router is on

than in command line type ipconfig/release
then ipconfig/renew

Your problem is when you turn on the desktop, for some
unknown causes, the nic cant contact the DHCP service of
the router, and start using and APIPA 169.254.x.y address
with subnet mask 255.255.0.0 .

Thanks for your quick reply.

I dont have a router, just a DUN connection. I have the
XP Desktop set up as an ICS. According to what I have
read, it should be sending IP addresses to the Laptop but
it isnt working. Even when I manually allocate an IP
address it still doesnt seem to work.

One additional thing...

I have found that Win2K-SP4 on an ICS client can cause problems -- at least
on my SONY laptop, when used with ICS running on a desktop host. The
desktop can be Win2K-SP4, and that doesn't seem to bother ICS.
