ICS and Networking

Well, I just bought a new router. I used to use a hub(actually a xbox hub)
and it worked great for 2 years. But lately it had been having some problems
with my computers connecting to my cable modem. I have two PC's, both
connected to the hub. And a cable modem that connects to the hub. At the
moment it works great, both PC's work on the hub. But I was wondering if
there is a way to have both connected to the internet at the same time while
also being on the network at the same time. At the moment, if I want a PC to
be connected to the net I have to goto network settings(both PC's use XP btw)
and change the IP address to auto detect. And for them to see eachother and
share files/play games, I have to change the IP address to a set ip(I use
192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2) but then neither PC works on the net. So is it
possible(maybe using a different protocol thing or something) to get them
both to work on the network and on the net at the same time without messing
around with switching them(gets very old). Thanks for the help!

Ryan,

If you have a NAT router that you can connect to the cable modem (ie a cable
modem that uses Ethernet), you should connect the router WAN to the cable modem,
and connect each computer to the router LAN. If you setup each computer for
auto detect, they should both see each other, and connect to the internet.
