I have both Windows 2000 Professional & Windows XP Professional installed in my machine.
When I logged into Win2000 today, to my surprise, I found that all the default icons for the various programs have changed on its own. For e.g. IE6's icon in Quick Launch (Taskbar) has changed to the icon which by default is associated with Search. When I tried to change it to the default icon by clicking the "Change Icon" button (right-clicking IE|Properties|Shortcut) & selecting the default icon (in %ProgramFiles%\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE), the icon does not change; in fact it vanishes!! After sometime, it reverts back to the same icon which was there (i.e. before I tried to change the icon) when the mouse is moved over!
What could the problem be & how do I restore all the programs to their default icons?
Please note that the icons in WinXP aren't showing the same problem!
Thanks,
Arpan
