Icons on Vista

Can anyone tell me why the .exe file on an old program shows a "nice"
icon, but when that same file is viewed in Vista it shows as a
generic, folder type icon?
Hi Jetjock,

It can be several things that can cause this to happen. You can try
these to see if can restore the icon back for it.

1. Change the Icon "View" size in the location of the file. It may be
using a smaller icon that cannot be viewed with a larger setting.

2. See if manually changing the icon back to the same one that is in
it's properties will show it again.

3. Rebuild the icon cache.

Hope this helps,

Hi Shawn,

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately, they didn't do the trick.
Vista says that the .exe file that I used for the icon in XP, doesn't
contain any icons, As for the cache, I did a search for that file and
it appears I don't have one! Guess I'll just have to check some of
the free icon sites and see if I can't find a suitable replacement.
