Icons in IE 6 Favorites

T

Tom McNulty

The Icons that are created in Favorites change from the
site based topic Icon to the default IE 'e' Icon. How can
I change this ?

This program will allow you to save the favicons.ico
(Favorite Icons)
permanently in a different folder and re-associate your
favorites with the
stored icons.

FavOrg - Restore and Save Favorite Icons (Line 108)
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

You can also try FavIoncizer, here:
http://www.codeproject.com/tools/faviconizer.asp?
target=favicons I've used
this and it's quite good,. It will actually find about a
third more than
FavOrg does (since it checks for referenced URL's), but
lacks some of the
other cababilites of FavOrg, Recommended.
------------------------------------------------
These are known as favicons.ico (Favorite Icons) and they
normally will only last until your Internet Explorer Temp
files are cleared.

You need to get a program called FavOrg 1.4 here:

http://www.gratilog.net/anglais/internet/favorg.zip
http://uk.geocities.com/personel44/files/favorg.zip

or Version 1.2 here:

http://www.liemar.com.br/construindoseusite/downloads/favo
rg.zip
http://www.themes.myqth.com/Downloads/favorg.zip

(still free at these links) which will allow you to save
them permanently
in a different folder and re-associate your favorites
with the stored icons.
(It will also verify whether your links in Favorites are
stll good, BTW.)

If you want to read more about it first, go here:

When I create a shortcut to my desktop with a web page, it will show the site's icon for a session and then it will go to the basic e. Is this the same issue as with the icon changing in favorites?

Jill;
Yep. Called Favicons. Dig it (them) out of your Temporary Internet Files before it's
deleted.
Or you can change the Icon.
Right click the shortcut | Change Icon button | If you do not see what you like | Browse
button
Or if you do not have any but the default XP icons, Icons here:
http://www.jeffs-icons.com/

Or do a Google Search for icons.
