i9100 banding problems

I hope someone can help me! My problem is with the Canon i9100 printer. I am
having severe problems with banding, especially when printing 13x19 images.
I have tried cleaning the nozzles, deep cleaning and aligning the head with
no luck at all. I am using Canon paper and inks and make sure I chose the
right paper in the settings.

The images I print are slides scanned in Photoshop via the Nikon 4000 at
high resolution then I tried printing via the Canon PhotoPrint software as
well as via Photoshop with the same results. Canon tech support told me to
reduce the resolution because maybe there was too much info being send to
the printer. Well, I tried different resolutions from 2400 all the way down
to 200 dpi, wasted a box of A3 paper and lots of ink with no luck. The
strange thing is this problem is more evident when there is blue sky with
some clouds in the image .
Called Canon again and they will be sending me a replacement to test it but
somehow I am not too optimistic. If anyone can give me some help I will be
grateful.
Thanks so much.

Have you tried a nozzle test to see what color is the problem? Do all
colors look ok when doing a head alignment? You can usually see a
problem in the nozzle test which will save a bunch of paper. Once the
nozzle test is perfect then try printing again.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have done the nozzle test (actually a couple of
times) and all colors look fine then when I print, no luck!

I had a similar and recurrent problem last Autumn (Fall!) with my S9000.
The nozzle test was OK and then I'd do a hi quality print and there'd be
this banding. I then just kept the printer running with draft stuff and
then it cleared. I haven't had the problem again.

The interesting factor was that 'deep' cleaning made no difference!

I wonder if draft mode actually ignores some nozzles, so that they
become temporarily blocked, but it doesn't show up clearly on the nozzle
check pattern?

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Canon send me a new printer and I must
admit there were very gracious and speedy about this. Well, I tested it and
the same problem appeared on the same image but not as strong. I am sending
two samples along with returning the printer to them and maybe they can
'decipher what the problem might be because it does not make sense. Canon
makes great equipement. All my photo gear is Canon and has seen some very
rough life in the Himalayas and never gave me any trouble.
Maybe is that way this is scanned in Photoshop? The problem is that I tried
to print it in low resolution scan and it was awful!
If I ever solve this one I will post it so others can benefit.
Thanks again
