I would like to fix my fluid Layout Table

Hi Everybody,
I am fairly new to FP. I am trying to create a Layout Table. My biggest
problem is that when I want to resize a row or a column, all the cells are
resizing themselves. If I delete a row or a column the same thing is
happening. Also if I split a row the cells are going to be different. I
tried to fix the widths and the heights of the cells by using cell properties
and also editing the related tags, as the fixed width or pixel method
supposedly gives prices control over the cells. It did not make any
difference my table stayed very ‘fluid’.
I’ve tried to solve the problem myself: already researched the net, also I
have a good book ‘FP 2003, inside out.
I came across something that might helps: unchecking the ‘auto-scale cells
with table’, which I have to admit I could not find in Table Properties.

My other problem is that if I use wide border (3 and above)--in the
preview—streaks of the background colour will show.

You have to set the width of the outermost container (usually a table or DIV)
in order to fix the width of a layout.

Thanks for answering my message. For some reason modifying the top cells
does not make any difference for me, the layout table remained fluid.
Because I have to change the cells one by one, I always and up having the
same problem: when I finish with the cahnges and check on the size of the
cells I have to realize that they are not under my controll, they changed
their sizes randomly.
My website seedling has no URL, it is not published yet. Is there any other
way?

Yes, I set the size of the *table* to a fixed number of pixels. This is why
I am puzzled by the fact that it is not fixed.
First I used the ‘draw table’ and ‘draw cell’ options. After roughly
drawing the required cells, gave them the exact size in pixels except the
last one, which has I assigned the outstretch option. Not all the cells got
the size I wanted and when I try to modify them using cell properties and the
drop down menu attached to the table--always end up with an even bigger mess.
(in spite the fact that I resized the cells both way they might not change at
all or not to the desired number.

I also defined the table using Table property. I’ve got the same problem
again.

This is quite difficult to diagnose without seeing the page. However, when a
table has several rows and you assign different combination of cell widths
to each row, the results are unpredictable.

FrontPage Layout tables have their quirks, that's for sure. But once you
create them, you can avoid problems by only modifying them through the GUI
(that is, in Design mode).

Thanks for the information it helps me avoid those combinations that prone to
problem. I redone my layout table and I have chosen same size for all of my
columns and rows and I merged some of them and split some others.
Finally—thanks to you-- I’ve got a layout which I can use.
