Somehow I have manged to reverse the order of my files. Now when I open my
'Word' the files/folders are ordered in reverse alphabet and I haven't the
faintest idea how to correct this. Help, please.

If you have the Detail view showing in the dialog, click the header of the
Name column -- each click switches between ascending and descending order.
If you have one of the other views showing, temporarily turn on Detail view
(right-click a blank area in the dialog and select View > Details), change
the order, and then change the view again.

Go to File | Open. If you don't see a header (Name) choose details from the
drop down in front of Tools on the upper right of the screen. Click the
header to change the sort. Change back to the view it was. When close and
reopen Word it should remember.

I opened File I clicked on Tools but there is no Details listed on the drop
down menu. I tried clicking on the header but only got the questions What's
this?

You were given incorrect instructions. There is a Views button next to the
Tools button. Click the arrow beside it and choose Details (or right-click
in an open area of the Open dialog and choose View > Details). Then click on
the Name header to sort the display.
