I typed and inserted Word Art into doc, every box is now blank

I was creating a new word document which included some Clip Art and Word Art.
After completing the doc. I saved it but then changed a few of the regular
text words and saved again
After a while I noticed all my Word Art had disappeared but the boxes are
now blank and enlarged with only dots showing the border. What happened to
the Word Art text and can I recover it?

Hi KTS,

See if you've turned on the 'picture placeholders' (blank box)
setting in Tools=>Options=>View in Word.
