I need Word Pad

I have Windows XP, but when I go to Accessories and look for Word Pad, it's
not listed...only NotePad, which doesn't work for my particular application.

I also tried going to Add/Remove programs, opening Accessories, but did not
see it in there.

I put in the Windows XP installation disk, however, that doesn't seem to be
an original, but a copy...and then I tried the Optional Installation....but
again, couldn't find WordPad.

Is there a way I can down load this program from the Windows website? Or
perhaps someone has another suggestions.

Thanks,

Jordan

wordpad can be run from the start > run as the others said very easily if it
hasn't been corrupted by something. Now what I always try to suggest to
people is that they download Open Office it is an office suite like Microsoft
Office Professional with a catch... It's FREE! Go to..

http://www.openoffice.org

Download and install it! It can open all microsoft office files and works
and word perfect it is great! Also, if you find it useful give the creators
a donation to keep them going! Good Luck.

When I type Start > Run, I get a message saying Windows cannot find Wordpad.
I'm going to try the other gentleman's suggestion and download the Open
Office. So I'm assuming from your answer, I can't simply go to the Microsoft
website and download Wordpad?

It is located in /Program Files/Windows NT/Accessories.
Just go there and make a shortcut to it.

It should also be in the /i386 folder.

Okay, I've downloaded Open Office. How do I open Word Pad within that?
Remember, my problem is that I can't find WordPad on my computer, so unless
Open office has it, I still have a problem.

thank you,

Wordpad is not actually in this but a similar program within Open Office is
Open Office Writer. It it much better than wordpad and can open and edit
wordpad files. Let's get out of the stoneage and learn how to use better
programs.

But Open Office is not a Microsoft product!

One of my employees downloaded it on his home computer (for what reason, God
only knows) and his cat developed warts. Hundreds of dollars in vet bills
and a mighty pissed pussy.

Just not worth it.

So states the biggest idiot around here who has this hardon against anything
Open Source. Possibly because he's been watching his MickeyMouse shares
drop in value over the years?
