I need Windows Update software to Install HP PSC 1210

D

D. L. Paluska

I have a year and one half old Toshiba notebook with XP
Home installed and I just bought a HP PSC 1210
printer/scanner/copier BUT I get message that "HP cannot
install the printer drivers hardware because NO WINDOWS
UPDATE *YET* WITH THE PROPER SOFTWARE THAT WILL INSTALL
THIS. Huh?

So supposedly everytime I connect to the Internet my
computer will search Windows Update for this NEEDED
SOFTWARE & NOTIFY ME *IF* IT BECOMES AVAILABLE.

Why ISN'T it available? How can I buy a new HP product
and NOT be able to load it on my relatively new computer
with realtively new XP and USE IT? Help!

1. Physically disconnect your printer from your computer.
2. Open your Control Panel and uninstall any HP printer software
listed in the Add or Remove Programs applet.
3. Go to Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes, right-click
on any printer icons and select "delete".
4. Visit www.hp.com and download the latest Windows XP
compatible software/drivers for your specific printer model.
5. Install the software drivers per HP's instructions.
6. Reconnect your printer to your computer.
