I need to free up space on my hard drive

Does anyone know how to free up space on my hard drive (C)? I have only 2%
left on space on drive c. I have 82% space left on my D drive. I just
wondered if i could move some of my programs to the D drive to make a lot
more space?

Use disk defragmenter and disk cleanup.
they are located in the system tools menu (windows xp)
Start:all programs:accessories:system tools
also, compress your files, save lots of space:
Right click on C drive (or the drive that your system is running off)
and choose "Compress drive to save disk space" it may take a little
while, but, pending on the total size of your drive, most likely will
take less then 1 hour. Don't be fooled when it says that it will take
1 day to clean up; it will change to 23 hours and keep on going down
quickly.
copying over files is easy... you can choose the "Copy to" or "Move
to" selection on the sidebar in any folder, or you can open up D
drive, open up the folder where the files are, select the files, right
click, choose copy, go to D and click paste.
Hope this helps!

OOps forgot to say!
do NOT, under any circumstances, move ANY files (like files from
windows folder or program files or any installled programs) to another
drive. uninstall them from C, obtain a setup file, and install to D
drive.

Windows XP has a built-in feature that allows you to move
the entire MY DOCUMENTS folder, for each user, to another
drive or partition. Outlook and Outlook Express allow the
user to select a location and folder to store email.
Right click on My Documents and select "move to folder" and
in applications, Tools options or Maintenance.

Delete all the temp files with Disk Clean-up. Uninstall
programs you don't use.

If you have a program such as Partition Magic and you get
enough free space, you can shift some of D: into C: if the
space is free.

Or buy a new drive and get a ton of space for less than
$100. Clone C: to the new drive and then use the old drive
as the backup and also put the swap file there.
