I posted some support questions on this Newsgroup service,
to Internet Explorer and Outlook Express topic, and I
posted a few messages about some OE issues that I had. I
put my work email address as the sender email. So since
last week I receive tons of emails to my MS Outlook 2000
client. This is an example of those emails detail
messages:
Network Associates WebShield SMTP V4.5 MR1a on ncsusrawsc5
detected virus Exploit-MIME.gen.b in attachment unknown
from <[email protected]> and it was Deleted and
Quarantined.
· vlwonfwsgbyContent-Type: text/plain; charset="us-
ascii" Content-Disposition: attachment;
filename="WARNING1.txt"

Network Associates WebShield SMTP V4.5 MR1a on ncsusrawsc5
detected virus W32/Swen@MM in attachment fqazj.pif from
<[email protected]> and it was Deleted and
Quarantined.
The from fields are like these one:
MS Corporation Technical Assistance
[[email protected]]
Network Security Department [[email protected]]
MS Mail Storage Service [[email protected]]
I searched that virus name on an antivirus site and that
site said the details about that virus:
This is a mass-mailing worm that poses as a legitimate
email from Microsoft Windows Update.
I scanned my PC with Mcafee v4.5.1 SP1 Dat 4294 Sep 18.
I need your smart advices and support with this huge
problem just I'm having with my MS Outlook 2000. Those
kind of messages don't stop to deliver to my Outlook
profile.

Kind Regards

It's not your machine that's infected - someone out there got infected
and had your e-mail addy somewhere on their machine, and as a result
you are being sent tons of that virus. It's not that they are doing
it intentionally, either, it's just happening. There is nothing you
can do, that I know of, other than change what your e-mail address is
at work. I get a ton of msgs myself to the addy I use for newsgroup
postings, but I use a yahoo account for it so it's not that big of a
deal to me. Sobig.f was much worse, I can tell you that much. Sorry
there isn't a better solution for you - maybe someone more savy than I
can come up with something for you...

You may be able to define a rule to filter out most of the messages. Look at
the header of a few of them and see if you can see a phrase that appears in
all of them. I found a phrase in the 'original-recipient' header line near
the end of the header that was consistant and defined a rule to completely
delete any message that contained that phrase.
Good luck, Hugh
