I need help, my host is confusing me and I want a new shopping cart.

As some of you might know, I am searching for the perfect, CHEAP shopping
cart to use... as a catolog OR atleast to be able to TRACK AFFILIATES!

Tracking is VERY IMPORTANT TO ME.

My host is sorta telling me what he offers and sorta not... some stuff he
does and some he does, but not done yet and some he doesn't -- THAT DOESNT
HELP MUCH

He is a little perturbed that I am not very interested in using HIS shopping
cart that he has... that he developed, but I have to use MALS-E to get it to
work right... AND THEN I HAVE PAYPAL ISSUES!

Paypal will not let me track Affiliates.. and PAYPAL is a huge part of my
affiliate tracking...

SO I wanted a cart or affiliate tracker that WILL WORK... but this is
impossible.

I am totally confused... ready to give up at this point and I am literally
pulling out hair now.

I do not know what to you.

I need a shopping cart that I can use EASILY..not for a 10+ experienced
programmer.... and I need to be able to use DELAYED payment...for SOME of my
items... PLUS I need to set up different shipping options.... AND I need to
set up different affiliate stuff for different sub webs!!!!!

My one web will have delayed billing because they ORDER then PROOF the
order.. THEN pay!

most customers use PAYPAL or money orders.... and MALSe doesn't work with
Paypal for affiliate tracking.

I have hardly any cash to spend... WHAT DO I DO?

I forgot to mention that I have NO KNOWLEDGE OF PERL or anything and I am
not good with figuring out some of those FREE shopping carts that use the
MYsql stuff...

and I am still not even clear if my host uses that stuff..

WHAT DO I DO?????

MESSAGE FROM MY HOST:

New Stuff at an extra fee :)

Probably in about 4 to 6 weeks i will be adding PHP and mySQL support to the
bulk of my servers. I will provide this as an upgrade (extra monthly fee
actually)

Also for those that dabble in ColdFusion I currently have that loaded on a
server.

----->>> since this doesn't help me now and i don't know how to use SQL and
PHP as an expert I don't know what the heck to do with this info.

I'm lost

From what you have indicated, I would think not, and that he is running
Unix/Linux as the OS.

To do what you want and the way you want, you are going to have to spend
some money.

Kimi,

1. If you plan to except credit card payments, you will need to purchase a
SSL Certificate and have it installed by your host, which cost $$$

2. You will need a merchant account, and a business bank account, unless
using a service like PayPal, and these cost $$$ For additional info, see:

3. And your site has to be database driven to store the product and customer
info and to provide the ability to track referrals.

4. Affiliate with own splash page, this could be accomplish using a Subweb,
which the affiliate would link to.

5. Your shipping requirement are not a problem.

Basically with a tight budget, you are limited to locating a free shopping
cart application that will run on your $6.00/month web space and making any
modification needed (coding) yourself, etc. Have you done a search for
PayPal Shopping Cart applications?

Bottom line, you have to pay to play in the e-commerce environment.

Hello Thomas,


As far as CC payments, they are not my top priority since I have found that
a large portion of my customers prefer paypal or just sending a money order.
I will be getting a merchant account for credit card processing at some
point, but that is not top priority -- -BUT I realize that if that will be
added on I need to take that into account while I am figuring out what cart
to use for now!

I have looked at paypal FREE carts and keep going in circles.

I would like the person to be able to opt for money order payments too and
Paypal itself has a shopping cart (well really buttons you make) but it is
JUST for paypal and it is JUST one button with a set price for each item...
not in pricing tiers like I want to do.

I know I am going to have to pay for what I really need. I just can't do
that yet. I am trying to find a solution outside of that for a while.

my answer was i don't know of any database driven stores that are
downloadable to work offline then back up. besides the database can get so
big it would take a huge amout of time to download and upload.
And mySQL ot MS Sql are definitely not downloadable,

just adding that lesser stuff now. As is I support ASP, professional access
databases, etc .....I'm installing the minor languages such as php and it's
database mySql now. There will be an added charge for them. you can review
the info by going to my new signup click any plan and the extras are on page
