I may have setup networking backwards

I just finished installing a linksys router and wirless adapter on my 2
computers, both running with windows xp home edition. I didn't know that i
should have started on the main computer and done the network setup wizard.
I started the wizard on the client computer, then tried to setup the main
computer. now i cannot see any shared folders from the main computer. I am
afraid it is because I setup the network backwards. I do get internet
connection, just cannot share files. How can I undo the setup and start
afresh the right way? Any help out there would be GREATLY
appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since both of your computers get Internet access through the Linksys
router, the order in which you set them up makes no difference.

In your setup, there's no "main" computer or "client" computer. Both
of them are equal.

Run the Network Setup Wizard on both computers. If the Wizard detects
the router's shared Internet connection, tell it to use that. If it
doesn't, tell it that the computers connect to the Internet through a
residential gateway.

If there's a firewall program (Norton, McAfee, ZoneAlarm, PCCillin,
etc) on either computer, make sure that it's configured to allow
access by the other computer on the local area network.

In addition to Steve Winogard's advice, do make sure that you have not
attempted to run the ICS Wizard on the "main computer"; ICS is not
necessary when you have a router.

Norman, I agree that ICS isn't necessary with a router. But I'm not
familiar with anything called the "ICS Wizard".

It's fine to run XP's Network Setup Wizard when the computer connects
to the Internet through a router. If the Wizard detects the router's
shared Internet connection, tell it to use that connection. if it
doesn't, tell it that the computer connects to the Internet through a
residential gateway.
