I hope this is the right NG...

since it does have to do with customizing my XP-Pro (non-Home)
version of Windows - so, here goes:

I've got everything running properly without problems (well,
without any "serious" problems shall we say).

The situation is that I work at a university where they try to
minimize network traffic - an admirable goal. Among other things
we have also been driven to use MS's "time" service to insure
that the time on our machine is set "properly/accurately."

Our network people have been harping on eliminating unnecessary
traffic but at the same time on the importance of synchronizing
our machine's clocks.

They have a "second level tier" machine on the campus that syncs
with one of the atomic clocks and they insist we sync with the
local clock to avoid "outside of the university" traffic.

Can someone tell me where, in the Registry, that MS has saved the
IP address of that their Time Service goes too to retrieve the
time?

All help appreciated.

There are two time services. One for domains and one for internet. They are different protocols. If you are on a domain you synch frequently and automatically (look itup in help) cos you have to match client time with server time to be able to log in. If you aren't on a domain just enter the ip address into the dialog.

Search for:
207.46.130.100 (time.windows.com)
or
192.43.244.18 (time.nist.gov)
Good Luck !

My thanks to all who responded. This is
a start. (I guess this was, if not the right
place, a friendly place.)
