I have two DIFFERENT versions of my desktop!

The files and folders I see when looking at my desktop (eg WINDOWS KEY+D) or
in the very top level when viewing folders in the Explorer bar of Windows
Explorer are different than the files and folders I see when looking in
C:\Documents and Settings\NAME\Desktop.

Both versions of the desktop are similar -- they share many files and
folders -- but it seems as though they've become unlinked. This problem
becomes very confusing when attempting to save to the desktop -- some
programs will save to one version of desktop and others to the other.

Does anyone have any idea how I can go about fixing this?

I think this probably has to do with local vs. roaming profiles. In Documents
and Settings I have two profiles - NAME and NAME.DOMAIN. The NAME.DOMAIN
profile is identical to what I see on the desktop (WINDOWS KEY + D).

I just checked in one of the programs that was using the local version of
the desktop and it is now using the roaming version.

We had some server problems while this was happening so this might be the
cause of it using the local profile.

Don't forget the All Users desktop - that'll add files, too.
