Still, with only 2 double sided dimms it should work at 400FSB. I'm not
sure
why it won't. I'll check the specs at MSI.

A friend has a Gigabyte board (GA-K8NXP-9) that with two sticks of RAM drops
the RAM speed down to 133 (plus overclocking). The RAM modules are
mismatched, one is PC4000 and the other is a cheapie PC3200, both 512kB. I
have the RAM HTT set to 210 and with either of the RAM DIMMs the RAM freq is
210. Install both in slots 1 and 2 the RAM speed drops to 133. Install
either RAM stick in slot one or two and the RAM speed is 210. Lack of time
prevented me from trying RAM slots 3 and 4. Anyone else have experience
with this board?

My regrets! $18 power supplies are really upsetting you. I will not presume
you have one.
I am sorry I hurt your feelings Dave, so just for you in future I will slow
down put on my new glasses and stop typing in the dark, I will even use
spell check. If I had any idea you judged a man by the content of his
spelling and not the content of his ideas I would have done more to stop for
you.
Sorry again Dave with the fake e-mail.

Mr. Mustang

I moved them into DIMM 1 and 2 (Purple and green. when I run a diag.
program to benchmark mys system (PC Wizard) this is what is shows.

Physical Memory : 1024 MB (2 x 512 DDR-SDRAM PC3200 @ 200 MHz)

Is the system running at 200 MHz x 2 = 400 MHz?

Am I just looking at this wrong?

Yes.

No.

What should I make of this output from PC Wizard on my system then?:

Physical Memory : 1024 MB (3 x 512 DDR-SDRAM PC3200 @ 200 MHz)

3 x 200 MHz? Tri-channel memory? :)

I have 2 512MB dual channel modules inserted, that's it.

Well, if you only have 2 sticks of ram, I'd say there's a bug in the
software. And the ram isn't running at 400MHz, it's still running at
200MHz. The ram would still run at 200MHz if you stuck 100 sticks of ram
in it. The "system" runs at different speeds depending on what you are
specifically talking about, the cpu, fsb, ram bus, etc.
