I have an 800MB+ video file that I want to re encode to a 700MB filefor 1CD.

Can someone please help me? I want to re encode the file so i can burn
it onto a single disc instead of RARing them up and using multiple ones.
It is an avi file, I think it is xvid or divx. I have the necessary
codecs installed, but I do not know what program to use for the re
encode. My friend is the one who captured the halo games and encoded
them. Can someone give me some advice on how to re encode the file?

Post your message on alt.video.dvd.software newsgroup. Great bunch of
folks and someone will be able to tell you exactly what you need and how to
do it. My guess is there are a number of 'freeware' apps that will do the
trick. You will, most likely, need the exact format of the file for your
post. Best wishes.

The best program I have found to do exactally what you want is
"AutoGK"

http://www.autogk.me.uk/

You can choose from a number of different sizes.

ie:
1/2 CD (350 MB)
1 CD (700 MB)
Custom size

It does a great job in two passes using "VirturalDubMod".

Like I said, best I've found.
