Windows XP i have a problem

i have a message that pops up from time to time that says ''this file has been tampered with and my be infected with a virus''. I have run a virus checker and nothing is found.i go into the event viewer and it says :- ''The COM+Event System failed to create an instance of the subscriber partition:{41E90F3E-56C1-4633-81C3-6E8BAC8BDD70}!new:{D3938AB0-5B9D-11D1-8DD2-00AA004ABD5E} GoGetObject returned HRESULT 80070422''....it also has another error which says :- ''The COM+Event System attempted to fire the Eventobjectchange::Change subscription event but received a bad return code. HRESULT was 80040201''.....Please can you help me i am lost on this and i havent got a clue what to do..I have windows XP Home edition.

Which antivirus checker do you currently use, and is it that which pops up with the message?

Do as Ian suggests, run the 'online' virus scanner. If this runs clean then you may be the 'victim' of a known bug in Windows. Microsoft has no known ‘patch’ as yet and a 'fix' will hopefully come with SP2.

I have a problem with outlook? Iget the above error 080040201 I cannot recieve email at all. I have tried uninstalling office and reinstalling only to fin nothing has changed also deleted account...can u help

that prob is now sorted....but I have two contact lists showing when I compile an email and select an address in the drop down box shows 2 contacts lists 1 is empty the other is fine?????
