I djust -DON'T- get this! File size & Attachement question.

What is going on with this. Can someone help me?

I have a folder called 'attachements' on my personal folder tree and
it's where I put all emails with file attachements that people send me.
Now there's at least 200 meg worth of file's there.

I copied OUTLOOK.PST to a backup location and the size is 337MB

I then DELETED my 'attachements' folder and the new OUTLOOK.PST is
still 337MB!

You'd think that it would shrink in size around 200MB wouldn't you?

What is going on here?

I wouldn't think that. But I see the logic.

One way to force the .pst to reclaim the whitespace (database space from
deleted items marked for reuse) is to right-click on the personal folders
account in Outlook, select properties-->advanced-->Compact now.
