I can't send e-mails

I recently set-up my windows mail account and successfully received all my
emails from my verizon account but when I try to send an email I get the
following error message:
The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Electronic Greeting.jpg',
Account: 'verizon.net', Server: 'outgoing.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
800, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I've tried changing the Port to 25 and 8025 to no avail.

The SMTP port should be 587 . . . . . . (that 8025 thing was a typo in that
article and you can not use 25 anymore)

I can tell you " where ", but it would be a disservice to you if I don't
know who is your ISP ( Internet Service Provider ).
Reason being different provider may requires different port numbers.
Example, the poster below, ' frustrated ', has Verizon as provider.
Who is yours ?

In Windows Mail: go to Tools, Accounts, select that account,
click Properties, Advanced.

Note: Different providers support different ports. Don't go changing
port numbers unless a competent individual has reviewed *your*
provider's recommended settings.
