I can't save the colours using Tools, Graph, Colour

I want to use a specific selection of colours in my graphs. I have set up
the colours using Tools, Options, Colour, but when I go onto another chart
the colours aren't there.

Any ideas?

Hello Sue in the City,

You need to set your color scheme in order for this to happen. In PPT
2002/2003 go to Format > Slide Design.

In the Slide Design Task Pane, select Color Schemes.

At the bottom of the Pane select Edit color schemes. This palette, set the
entire scheme for your presentation. The "Fills" are the colors that will
appear (in order) in your charts/graphs.

The settings you make there apply to the current chart only, not to any further
charts you create. And they're not even saved with user-defined custom
charts.

The only practical workaround I know of is to create a chart the way you want
it, then copy/paste it to other slides and edit it as needed.

If you do this a lot, you might want to create a library of charts in a
presentation then use Insert, Slides, From File to bring in a slide with the
specific chart you need. Clumsy but it's the best shot we got.

Note that your charts *will* pick up certain colors from the current PPT
slide's color scheme, as Sandy points out.

Lots more info here, much of it specific to programming MSGraph, but some other
good stuff too:
