i can't installed vista on my computer need help

i have a 1.8 ghz and 1 gig of ram and a 32 mb video . i also have update the
bios of the computer.its a dell latitude D600...i have also run vista advisor
and says that i can run vista on this computer .now my question is i'm
having trouble installing vista...i first put the beta dvd that i bought
from microsoft. i put the product key then i do a clean installed....now
after i installed all the features ....it restart s one last time then it
freezes and shows lines

Try restarting in Safe mode and letting it finish the install

i work with computers alot but not really installing os systems but i want
vista i know that this is beta but i want to try it i dont want to sound
like a newbie but how do i get to safe mode i know that its not hard what
is the key for safe mode

F8 at the startup logo

yeah i got that but do i go to safe mode everytime it restarts when
installing vista or just the last restart

can you tell me step by step how to installed vista
1.upgrade or clean up and if clean up how to do that process
2.going into safe everytime or just the last restart

Christian,

I'd start over and format the drive and do a clean install
