When I set up my computer to do a check disk by checking the "scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, it gets stuck on step number 4 of 5. Does anyone have any suggestions

I tried trv chkdsk /r It says it can't find "trvchkdsk". It also tells me to search for that file, but then when I try to do that it tells me "a file that is required to run search companion cannot be found. you may need to run setup."

No boot to the "Recovery Console" and run "chkdsk /r" - note stages 4 and 5
take a long time on large hard drives - well over an hour each on each of my
120GB drives.

I tried to run it again from "My Computer"for the 6th time, and this time it finally worked.
