I can't access the start menu.

When I start the computer, a Windows Explorer box comes up on the screen
saying Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. When I
click on its detail tab , it shows me an Error Signature. I f I try to close
the box, it keeps reappearing. The cursor turns to an hourglass when put on
the start tab, so I can't access anything. What has happened here?

If you had some Norton products installed then this link might help you:

Hi,
I tried this and I still can't get rid of the Windows Explorer box, or
access the start tab. The cursor just goes to an hourglass.

Hi,
I can't go to the Start/Run because the cursor turns to an hourglass and is
useless when I run it over the Start green button. Any other ideas? The
Error signature reads: App: Name: explorer.exe ModVer: 5.12600.5512
App.Ver.: 6.02900.2215 Offset: 00009de9 ModName: user32.dll

I tried the Windows logo key and the letter R, and nothing happens. I still
have the Windows Explorer box telling me Windows has encountered a problem,
etc.... and I still cannot access the Start tab.
