I cannot send or receive mail in Outlook

I cannot find the Send receive button in Outlook. I have created a new Email
account and tested it. The test seems to be OK (I cannot get the confimation
Email). Still no Send/Receive.
I have tried deleting my Email account and recreating it with the same
negative result.

This problem just started after my system did a registry reload. My wife's
Email is still working Perfectly.

Can anyone help me?

If you don't receive the email when checking your new acct, it is not set up
correctly. Set it up again and make sure it is a permitted POP or IMAP
acct--not a free web mail acct. like Hotmail, Yahoo. Use your browser for
those.

Mary,

I rechecked my account and verified that I am using a POP server for my Email.
I have run the test account setting and it runs fine to completion but I
still have no send/Receive button or is send and receive available in the
Actions drop down box.

Thanks for the help. Do you have any other sugesstions?

George

It might have something to do with the registry "reload" altho I don't know
what you mean by that. Maybe your profile is corrupt. Check with your service
provider for the correct settings for their email servers and make sure you
are using the email address they gave you.

Right click in your toolbar in a new mail message, select Toolbars, then
click on the reset toolbars option. If this still does not work, then close
Outlook, rename outcmd.dat to .old and then reopen Outlook. Your Send
button should appear.

Milly,
Thanks for the tip, but it did not work. I removed and reinstalled Outlook
and still have the same problem. The send/receive button appears for a
second when I open outlook but quickly disappears. I have checked and
Outlook is the default mail system for me, BUT, All of my mail is directed to
a copy of Outlook Express on my system (even the test messages). I removed
my account from Outlook Express and still have the same problem.

So, you didn't follow even one of my suggestions, eh?

George, this solution worked for me:
Open Outlook, go to the Help menu, select the Detect and Repair...
You can select/deselect a few options, I chose to restore defaults(?)
It will prompt you to close Outlook so it can run the detect and repair.
It only took about a minute. I reopened Outlook and it was as if it were
opening for the first time. I set up my email account. At one point it asked
me if I wanted to import an existing account (I think it was looking at my OE
account maybe) and just to be on the safe side I told it NO NO NO. Whatever I
needed to import, I knew I could do that later.

Outlook is working fine now. I have a send button and all is well.

I had previously tried the detect and repair from my Office installation
disk and it did nothing. I tried the same things you did, and all the advice
I could gather here in the discussion groups. Good advice, but it did not
solve my problem. I ended up contacting Microsoft via email. I had to pay $35
up front, but they reversed the charges. He said if the detect and repair
didn't work, to set up a new profile. He gave me instructions on how to do
that. If you need them, let me know and I will post them here.

Hope this helps. Donna
