I cannot send emails but I can receive them

I know this has come up in many previous subjects, however, none of the
answers have helped my situation. I have two email accounts and I am using
Windows Mail with Vista. I have been sending and receiving without a problem
for months. Today, I cannot send emails. They sit in my outbox. I am
receiving emails without a problem. The error message I get is "The
connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Re: Any word?', Account:
'amdeck.com', Server: 'amdeck.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL):
No, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E" I have contacted my ISP
and they say the problem is on my windows side. It is not either of my email
accounts. I have a blackberry and when I reply to emails using that, they go
thru fine. The only answer that comes close to answering my question is that
the problem is someone else's and just wait it out. Well, that doesn't
really work for me. I am running a business and as you all know, email is a
major part of any business. Plus, all of those posts pertaining to my
problem are older. Can anyone help?????

Port 25 and SSL are seldom used together. You might try turning off SSL
for this port.

Click on Tools, then Options, then Send. If there's no check mark in the
box before Send messages immediately, click on that box and then Apply.
Click on OK.

Does your connection to amdeck.com go through any other internet
provider's equipment before it gets there? If so connections to port 25
are likely to be blocked to cause trouble for spammers. You might
ask amdeck.com if they listen to any other port for outgoing mail.

This fix often works for mail stuck in the Outbox and should be downloaded
and installed with Windows Mail not running:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/941090

Although it's labelled as for mail stuck in the Outbox, it also works in
other
folders. If you don't know whether to use the 32-bit version or the 64-bit
version, try the 32-bit version first. Many common antivirus programs,
such as most of those from Norton or McAfee, tend to cause various
problems in Windows Mail, so if you have one of those programs,
remember where to find the fix since you are likely to need it again,
although not immediately.

As you say, the problem is not on the amdeck.com side.
The problem is that many Internet connection providers, as an
anti-spamming measure, do not permit use of external (non-owned)
SMTP servers. This is known as a port 25 block, see
http://www.postcastserver.com/help/Port_25_Blocking.aspx

One workaround is to always use the SMTP server belonging
to the connection you are using at that moment (i.e., Verizon,
Comcast).
