I am trying to convert an rtf to Word. When the file opens some of the data
which is normally indented is one letter off. How do I align the data as it
was in the pdf?

Off how?

Has it inserted an extra blank space? (Turn on Non-Printing
Characters, Ctrl-Shift-8, and see if there are extra spaces.)

PDF or RTF? RTF should open more or less as it was created. PDF, on the
other hand, is a graphical format and cannot readily be converted to Word
format - at least not if you want an exact facsimile. There is no substitute
for careful editing to match the original.
