When a HyperTerminal configuration file (.ht) for a COM port is copied to and
opened from another computer, a dialog box titled "Location Information" opens.
It says "Before you can make any phone or modem connections, Windows needs the
following information about your current location." The information is asked
for is country/region, area code, carrier code, number to dial outside line,
tone/pulse. It has an OK and Cancel button. Pressing Cancel works because the
COM port connection is to another computer, not a dial-up modem. On right-click
of the .ht file, the .ht Properties window shows the "Connect using:" COM#, but
also a greyed out (disabled) check box labeled "Use country/region code and area
code". If I could just get that check box unchecked, I think that opening it
from other computers wouldn't initiate the unnecessary "Location Information"
dialog, but how?
