Hyperlinking between presentations

L

Lia

I have created several hyperlinked presentations.
Presentation A contains a slide with various logos. When
you click on one of the logos in slide show view,
Presentation B opens. Presentation B contains a number of
hyperlinks that allow you to move around in Presentation
B. It also has a Home link that returns you to the logo
slide in Presentation A.

The problem is, if slides are added or deleted in
Presentation A, the logo slide is likely no longer in the
same location in the storyboard. This means the Home
hyperlink in Presentation B won't work because the
destination logo slide has changed position.

Is there anyway to set up the Home link in Presentation B
so that it will always return to the logo slide in
Presentation A, no matter where the logo slide happens to
be in the storyboard?

I'm trying to avoid having to edit the link in
Presentation B (it would be a big problem because there
are many users of these linked files and they are not all
going to know how to adjust links or have time to do so).

Thanks in advance!

Link it to "End Show". That will cause it to return to from whence it came,
wherever that might be. It's also a tidy way to close pressie B so that you
don't have multiple instances open when the final final end is reached.

Why don't you have the link from Presentation B back to A be for End Show
rather than linking to A? You can find this in Slide Show -> Action
Settings, rather than Insert -> Hyperlink. This will work because when they
click on the link to B and then click on the Home in B, B will end, leaving
them right back where they were in A.

If you must have a link that goes to A, you could simply reorganize your
presentation so the logo slide is always in the same place. If you use links
to navigate, it doesn't matter what order the slides are in, so just put the
logo slide as your second slide and don't move it. If you don't use
hyperlinks to navigate, you can probably set up a duplicate logo slide as
your second slide and then hide that slide.

Let us know if either of these suggestions work for you.
