Huge "errors.log" file on Windows Defender

I found a file "C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\errors.log" that is
4GB and growing daily. Google reveals others have this problem as well, some
even reporting larger errors.log files. What is being logged so vigorously to
warrant a log file of this size? As of right now I'm still trying to find a
file viewer that will play nice with it to view the contents, everything I've
tried so far hangs indefinitely when trying to open it.

Just delete it--there's nothing worth learning from it.

This file should not be growing under current (meaning unexpired!) versions
of Microsoft Antispyware. That bug was fixed a good while back--you are
probably seeing "old growth" for what little consolation that may give you.

You may want to update to beta2, Windows Defender, which is available now,
and logs to the system event and application logs.

The new app is quite different--updates via Windows and AutoUpdate, runs as
a service with no icon by default, advanced tools are quite different--some
have migrated to IE7, others are simply gone. However, it does a better job
of the real work than Microsoft Antispyware did--stronger real-time
protection, able to scan within archive files, and more.
