HP XW8000 Workstation issue

We have a Powerful XW8000 workstation with 4GB DDR Memory and 2x 3Ghz Zeon
Processors.

When Win2k Professional starts this only reports approx 3GB RAM and only 1
processor.

Now, from memory I can remember reading that the system can only address the
RAM dependant on the address bus of the CPU - so this is not OS specific.

However surely Win2k Prof should report the 2nd processor??????

We have Sp4 loaded.

Did you install both processors and then install windows?
If windows was not installed with both processors running,
then it will load the single processor kernal and not the
dual. If that is the case, copy the file for the dual
processor (have to look that one up for you) onto your
system and make sure that 2k runs that in lieu of the
single processor version.

Thanks mate - I find this bizzre that Microsoft produced 2 different
kernals - Im sure there are a lot of systems out there that is mis-reporting
dual processor systems.
