HP Vista Upgrade

Hi All. I am also experiencing the omgoing saga of ModusLink and the HP
Express upgrade. I have two questions; it might seem a little silly , but
the way things are at the moment.. If I was to purchase a retail/MSDN
package Home Prmium can I install tthis new package over my current OEM HP
package, and if I eventually receive my HP/ModusLink package, will the Media
Centre on my PC at this moment be upgraded by the new upgrade package? The
reason I ask I have been getting an ongoing error within my current Media
Centre and now hoping that a new OS (Vista) will remove this error. )The
arror is a Runtime Error) I have tried the MS DeBug program but it only
corrects the problem till the next time. Rgds Argyll At Home, Downunder.

Hi,

One of the reasons for using the Moduslink site is that in addition to Vista
upgrade, you all get an additional disk that is specific to your machine.
This disk will contain necessary drivers and updates for software included
on the system. Without these, it is likely that many things will not
function correctly under Vista, and this could include an update to the
system BIOS. I would not recommend that you go this route without first
determining that all these updates are available from HP for your model
(they have recently posted a number of them).

By the way, the runtime error may or may not be resolved as it is caused by
an interaction of the software and the operating system environment. Vista
will replace the latter, but if the program is buggy it will still not
function correctly. I would check for an update/patch, and/or
uninstall/reinstall the software causing the problem as well.

Thanks for the comment Rick, ite really does sound as though the Express
Upgrade is riddled with doubt and the unknown. Just on the error problem
with media Centre, I have tried the path suggested, ie remove suspect
programs such as the Sonar software and other graphic related software. I
have rec'd 2 downloads from MS Auto Downloads for Media Centre. I am
seriously thinking about the complete package Home Premium, costs some
dollars but appears to be the only way ahead.
