HP Printer: wont print in color

Alan

Hope someone can help but when I send my print work out via wireless from my
optima laptop it wont print in color but will in black and white. I have
ticked the color button in properties yet it refuses to print, just a blank
bit of paper comes from the printer,
the main printer prints in colour no worries, it has vista installed on it
so I'm not sure if that affects it or not. any clues?
regards
Alan

You've given next to no information with which to diagnose your problem.

- What make and model printer is giving you the problem?
- Has this problem always existed, or were you once able to print in color?
- If you were once able to print in color, what has changed in your
system since then?
- Have you checked the ink supply, both color and black?
- Have you printed a test page from the printer's front panel controls?
- To what is the printer connected, and how?
- Where did you "tick the color button"?
- What application are you printing from?
- Does color printing fail from all print applications?
- To what is the "main printer" connected and how?
- What is the "it" that has Vista installed?

sory for delay in getting back Lem but easter etc. I am not overly computer
wise but I will try and answer your questions...
*printer is a HP 2310 all in one
*problem has occured only over the last few months and seemed to be after
"tuneup" was run through it by repairer who was getting rid of "win 32" error
message, and as far as anything having been changed well there has been a lot
''fiddling''going on and I must confess I have tried to solve the probem
myself and have "fiddled" in different places :(
* the ''it'' refers to my Acer PC with Vista installed.
* printer works fine from Acer PC includung test pattern, but on my optima
laptop (connected to the Acer via wireless) it just refuses to print in color
and test pattern wont print at all.
* I ticked the color button through File/print/preferences/paper/colour on
various jobs/locations
* the printer is connected to Acer pc via usb cable
* printer will not print in color on any print applications via laptop
* my laptop has XP2 installed but the printer ran ok before on acer
* new ink cartridges

If I understand things correctly, you have your HP 2310 connected to the
Acer by USB and you share the printer over a wireless connection to the
Optima laptop.

The printer prints b&w and color when printing from the Acer

The printer only prints b&w from the Optima.

It sounds to me as if the printer driver on the Optima has become
corrupted. Try totally removing that driver following the directions
here: http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/CleanPrinterDrivers.htm and then
reinstalling using a new driver from here:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=303736

If I were doing it, I would choose to install the "Basic Software and
Driver."
