HP Photosmart Essentials

I just installed this program from the HP site yesterday. Immediately after
I started getting a message that says Windows Explorer has encountered an
error and must shut down. I also have the HP share to Web service installed,
but I have not had any problems with it before. I am not sure if it actually
is the photosmart program causing the errors or something else.

Anyone have info on this or experienced the same problems? I checked the HP
site and there is no info on any problems. I have both 1.12 and 2.0 versions
of Photosmart installed which is suppose to be OK according to the
documentation.

I have the same program installed and when it is run in a limited user
account it generates a runtime error. That is, it does not work at all if
you are logged on as a limited user. Why do you need two versions installed;
doesn't the newer version supercede the old one? If the old version is not
needed uninstall it and try again. Otherwise use some other photo printing
applications such as Adobe Photoshop or even Picasa.

Ok, I just successfully updated my own HP Pavilion desktop computer to PE
version 2.0. I definitely recommend that you try reinstalling. Go to
Add/Remove Programs and remove version 1.12 and restart your system.
Temporarily disable your anti-virus and/or and anti-spyware programs that
are memory-resident. Reinstall version 2.0 on top of your existing
installation and see if it works. Restart again if successful.
I am very happy that the version 2.0 of PE even works in a limited user
account. At least it opens without a run-time error as with version 1.12.
Good luck with reinstalling.

I have had reasonable success with HP's online chat support when I had
problems with several of their software programs. Searching the HP site
often results in frustration.
