Has anybody been able to get an "hp photosmart 7760" printer to work in
Vista? If so, what driver/software did you use?

TIA

Hi Chat,
Just visited the site and it seems to work no prob for me,
http://extended64.com/files/14/printer/default.aspx
try this link then select hp beta x64 drivers.....
Not a lot of point really if you are only running the x86 os. Another thing
to try is turning off driver enforcement,
http://neosmart.net/dl.php?id=1
A little prog that allows you to permanently do this.
Download the lates Xp drivers from the website and then install then in XP
compatability mode.
From what I understand this should work ok, but as ever with this type of
thing ensure you have a backup of your critical files....... :O)

Alan,
I still cannot get to the site - must not like me<G>
When I get RC 1 installed, I'll give it a try. I am going to put RC1 on its
own HD so whatever gets wrecked gets wrecked and life shall continue.
Thanks for your help here - I'm going to get the neosmart deal and save it
for future use.

Alan,
Just to clarify my previous site problem, I can get to the link you posted,
but when I click on "download" I get the error. Since I am using 32 bit, not
an issue.
However, I might install the 64 bit RC1 version just so I cannot use the
drivers I cannot get ;0)

If you have not resolved this (its a few months on so I suppose you have) in
Windows Vista RC1 go to Control Panel and Printers. Click add new printer
then add local printer and click next, Seplect use an existing port usually
LPT1, install the driver manually, under the manufacturers list click HP
under the driver list find the HP Photosmart 7800 Series select that click
next and finish the install process. You will have the remove unsafe
hardware icon on the task bar but that is because its not the exact driver
but your printer will work with this driver.
