HP Photo cart will not reset after refill, have a question please?

Hi, I've tried to reset the HP photo cart 58, but to no avail it will not
read full, first time for me usually works. Anyway, will the printer HP
Photosmart 7150, still print like it should, with both the 57 & 58, or will
it think the 58 is empty and only pull color from the 57 color cart? The
reason I ask is the quality of my prints isn't like it usually is.
Thanks

The 58 cartridge is one of a group that following refilling disables or
shows the wrong information on the status monitor, this group can only be
refilled three times before it will not be recognised by your computer. As
far as the status monitor is concerned, ignore it and wait until the print
quality starts to degrade, then you will know you will need to change
cartridges shortly. Others in this group include the 56 and 58 cartridges.

This is just NOT SO...

The 58 may well burn out after 3 uses, but it doesnt have a limited lifetime "built in"..

The printer WILL remember the cartridge ID and continue to register low ink levels after a
refill.

The cure for this (at least in my Photosmart 7350) is to have 4 of the #58 carts on hand and
keep rotating through them. After the third cart, the printer forgets the ID of the first
cart, and it will register as "FULL" when installed. Just number the carts so you can run
through them in order (1,2,3,4,1,2,3,4 ect)

The HP carts are NOT "Chipped" or "programmed to die" in any fashion, thats an EPSON trick.

Most of the advice on the internet about taping over HP 57 and 58 contacts
to reset the ink level to 100% is wrong. Different contacts may have to be
taped over to get the desired effect, it depends on the ID signature of the
cartridge.

I disagree. 'Most' of the advice (I have info from three different
sites, who all agree on the method) is accurate and I have used it
effectively since last winter.
What is the correct method for the 56, 57, and 58 cartridges?

Bruyea,

Thanks for the link and information. I have been refilling Epson
cartridge for 4-5 years til last nite I refilled the 1st cartrige for
the HP Photosmart 7350 (I tried to refill again this morning but it was
full). I had the exact problem the page describes, I followed the BLUE
and RED instruction and finally got the cartridge report to FULL.

I am printing the a sample right now. The color isn't right yet (lack
of GREEN, probably need some cleaning and let it set for some hours),
but much better than before (lacked of RED) I have the cartridge reset.
IOW, the summer green glass now looks fall yellow.
