HP Pavilliona1610n does not detect another internal harddisk

I have tried 2 different harddisk, connected them with a 80 type cable, (the
disk runs when I turn on computer) but upon startup the computer does not
see this disk.

I am using winxp, sp 2 and AMD dual core CPU.

I have tried to plug the second disk to the top of the cable and also to the
middle of the cable. It makes no disference.

I also set this second disk to Slave.

Whay would it not work?

Try detecting it in the bios

also...go to disk management and see if it's there but just needs a drive
letter assigned
(or perhaps partitioning and formatting)

I went to the BIOS and see no way there to enable this internal drive
It has as first group HDD, as second group CD/DVD and as 3rd group again HDD
(hard drives)

I forgot where to go for disk management. Please direct me. Thanks

you mean to say you cannot find

start
settings
control panel
administrative tools
computer management
storage
disk management

it's not like Microsoft hid that or anything :)

Thanks, I found it, but I gave up and bought instead a 300 GB External disk
to day.
Works fine with firewire.
