HP OfficeJet 600 Multi-function

WindowsXP keeps re-finding my HP600 printer. Each time a seperate set of drivers is loaded and the "printer" is added onto the contro panel list of available printers. Per Microsoft advice I upoaded the manufacturor's new drivers for this printer, powered off the printer, and restarted my desktop. I then powered up the printer and WindowsXP found the printer on LPT1. The problem has been that every time I have shut down the computer and later started it up WindowsXP re-finds the printer, and keeps prompting me to automatically load drivers. Even though the default printer is listed as HP OfficeJet 600, there are also HP OfficeJet Fax, HP OfficeJet 600 Print, and then copies of HP OfficeJet 600. I have deleted the copies and HP OfficeJet 600 Print yet on each power up XP "re-finds" the other "devices" on LPT1. When I try to print from the Internet Explorer (version 6.0) the printing stops after only half a page is printed and then I get the WinXP error message that the connection to the printer has been lost. So far I have been able to get the print job to go by powering down the printer, and then powering it up again. There after the task tray icon shows the printer as unavailable. Any thoughts?

Try cleaning out/removing all drivers completely, then reinstall with
printer disconnected, read this:
