HP Deskjet1000C manual feed does not work in XP Pro

I have tried multiple applications and none of them work
any different one to the next. The only conclusion I can
draw is that either Microsoft or HP personnel did not
fully check out this option when they developed it to go
in XP. I cannot tell from where I am as to which is the
culprit. HP says the latest driver was for Win2000 and
that there is no reason to down it from their website
because it came standard on the Win2K disk.

The best part about this is you can use three or four
different paths (Word print Options or Properties) the
Printer and Faxes set printer properties, etc.. all of
which let you make the Manual Feed selection and then it
goes and takes the next sheet of paper out of the tray
just like you hadn't even changed anything. So which is
it Microsoft or HP? It is clearly one or the other yet
Microsoft insists I go back to the OEM that supplied the
installed version of XP on my hard drive. How or why
would it be of any value to go back to the OEM when they
are just copying the drivers, (not even installing them)
they do not write them or bundle them with their OS that
is clearly Microsoft or HP.

This is why the government is continuing to go after you
Microsoft. This is just the most obnoxious of ploys, to
point the finger at some third party that is obviously
and totally innocent when you could easily solve this
problem and keep the wheels of productivity turning you
choose to sluff this off as someone else's problem.

Any company truly interested in keeping customers
productive and thus happy could easily take it upon
themselves to work with the one and only one obvious
choice with which to find the root cause of a problem and
correct it. Instead you send many a non-technical type
floundering off in many different directions which
usually results in a solution but not "the right
solution". There are thousands and thousands of
frustrated technical people out here tired of getting
jacked around by you guys, forced to go out and by new
hardware and software to do the same thing they were
capable of doing until they installed your latest
upgrade. Tired of dealing without so they break down and
spend some more money to get back to where they were
yesterday just because you refuse to do your job right.

Responsibility for developing printer drivers lies soley in the hands of the
printer manufacturers. If they decide it's not economically viable for them
to write updated drivers for a particular model because it's been
discontinued by them for too long, then I suggest you complain to them....
in this case, write an email to HP.
