I received a HP DeskJet 870cxi, but unfortunately the enclosed disks are
partially unreadable.
Is there somebody so kind to send me a copy of the disks for Windows 98
and 2000 ?
Thank you very much!

Unfortunately no Windows 98 driver is available for download. This is true for
just about all HP printer drivers prior to Windows XP.

Win98 is history.  And rather poor history at that.  Linux can run rings around it.

....and what does that have to do with anything?

Thank you, but on that site I find following statement:
Content starts here
As of July 2007, HP will no longer be able to offer driver downloads or
replacement driver CD ordering for Windows 98, 98 Second Edition (SE),
or Windows Millennium (Me) for your HP printer,
[unquote]

Therefore I really hope somebody still has those disks at home!

You have hit upon a real problem. Microsoft's agreement with HP doesn't
allow HP to distribute those drivers anymore, leaving you having to beg
for copies. I hope someone here can help you, and encourage them to do so.

Well not quite, although my previous statement was not correct, either.

The drivers for Win 2000, if there are such drivers, should still be on
the HP website, but the Win 98 and ME drivers will not be. Application
software may still be available, but drivers will not be.

I wonder if Win95 drivers will work, because they have a chance of being
available.

Google "deskjet 870 windows 98 drivers" without the quotes for the Windows
98 drivers, no longer available from HP. The Win 2K drivers are built in to
Win 2K, see

Does that help?

Some newsgroup contributors appear to have confused
the meaning of "discussion" with "digression".

Thank you very much, Bob, but I am still getting a 0 KB file!
I tried both with IE and Firefox on all Download buttons available on that
page but got the same result!

OK, one more try -
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=37508 downloaded
and ran on my Vista machine but did not actually install as is a Win 9x
driver....

If this does not work send me an email and I can forward the file to you.
