HP all-in-one not installing after XP Pro install

I just installed a fresh copy of XP Pro SP1a and have
installed my HP PSC 2210xi all-in-one printer. After I
install I get an OLEAUT32.dll assertion error from the
hpotdd01.exe. I called HP (4 times waiting on hold for
numerous hours). They told me to install the hijackthis
file to correct the problem. Anyone have experience with
this file or this problem?
