My HP 2400 all in ond did great, scnning, copy, fax and print. I
installed SP2 that MS send me in the mail, a CD. Once I did this none
of the icons for the printer worked, and the only thing it would do now
is print. I uninstalled the 2400 software and reinstalled it and still
no good. Can any help me ?
PS I am using Window XP home edition

Not sure exactly which model you have?
But look at
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...lang=en&y=9&cc=us&docname=c00365915#Uninstall
This refers to the PSC 2410. See the bottom of the URL page and you will note
that there is a utility that "completely" removes the drivers, normal driver
uninstall does not always work for some HP printers and succesful
re-installation can be difficult or impossible. BTW HP are not the only
manufacturer who has this problem but they do at least provide a solution
unlike many others.
If your model is different there may be an equivalent utility for your printer.
You should be able to find it through the HP troubleshooting web pages.
Worth trying this and then re-install the product.

Thank you for your reply. The printer is just marked 2400 with nothing
else showing. Can I go backwards in time to when the printer was
working, the day after Christmas ?
thanks again

You could try a system restore from Win XP. You may have to reinstall any
applications that you have added since the restore point but you shouldn't lose
any data.

That sounds great. Will I then be able to reinstall the 2400 or should
I purchase another all in one , and if so what do you recommend ?
thank you

If the restore is succesful it depends whether the printer is present or not.
If present then uninstall and re-install otherwise just install.
Good luck

I would get the latest driver from
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?lc=en&lang=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=303753&os=228
(assuming you have a high speed connection). Before running this
disconnect the All-in-one from the computer and run the uninstaller from
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...product=303753&dlc=en&softwareitem=mp-24061-2
three times; each time will remove a bit more of the old system. Then
install the new driver and do not connect the printer back up until
instructed to do so.

You do not need a new printer, this one will work fine with XP SP2.

Can you please supply me with full details in private email?

I can then forward this to MS for them to look at. There have been a
few issues coming up with XP Home Ed and I know they are looking into
these complaints to try to determine what's going on.

the more detail I can provide, the better, in terms of isolating where
the problem is developing from.

Please email me at:

(dot) = .

Thanks,
